G3. Thank You.

I would like to just put out a quick little thank you to G3. They do make some pretty cool gear but there is one little item that i think takes the cake. It is by far one of the best tools i have used in a while. What is it you might ask. Well it is their little skin cutting tool that they shipped out this year with their skins.

prod_sa_bigThe G3 Trim tool is just great.  Not that it is hard to cut a pair of skins correctly but heck it has taken me longer to write this post than it took for me to cut my new skins.  Again G3 thanks for such a simple yet great design.

What fuels us.

With an addiction like mine money tends to get spent in more important places.  Like new skis and helmets cams (reviews and fun to come).  So the little things in life tend to take a back seat.  Like food.  Even with that it is nice to know that there is so much geeked out gear that goes into a main stay for me and my family.

More than meets the eye.

So the bad part about being addicted to outdoor gear is that after some time you tend to get bored with seeing the same thing over and over again.  Well i just went to check my email and was completely suprised to find a press release from Loki for a new do everything jacket.

17

Needless to say I got a bit excited.  I think the inventor Sett Anderson describes it far better than i can.

"This new affordable Loki Hoodie is designed for casual wear in cool or cold weather (with some layering).  However, it is packed with features that can assist an individual caught off guard in cold weather."  -- Seth Anderson, inventor and founder.

Honestly what more could you want.  This thing has it all especially for a jacket that will run for around $135.00.  Hopefully i can get my hands on one of these to give it a try.

Check out all the Loki gear here.

I did it all for the Nookie.

So at last summers' Outdoor Retailer, one company that stood out to us, was Nookie wear out of the UK.  They are a pretty cool paddling company and make some amazing gear.  I am still drooling over their 3/4 guide short that is just sweet.  Well i just noticed that they are having a clearance sale on a bunch of their gear.  So if you are looking for some great gear and don't mind paying a little more for shipping, head over to the site and check out what they have.  It's worth your time.

Rock and Ice Releases Top 10 Climbing Cities

CBI'm about a month behind the times on this article, but I get all my magazines for free if I wait a month. I am poor so living a month behind is a sacrifice I'm willing to make.   As many of you may or may not know most of the staff of Gear-Addicts hails from Boise, Idaho.  We were rather excited and dismayed to see Boise ranked the Second best climbing city.  Dismayed because we really don't want you moving here (just kidding any cute  single 19-25y/o females that climb feel free come on over).

The main guidelines for the ranking was "places where you'd actually want to live."  Things that were looked at were the local scene, cool activities to do in your spare time, price of living, and of course fantastic climbing.

Cities:

  1. Chattanooga, Tennessee
  2. Boise, Idaho
  3. Ogden, Utah
  4. South Lake Tahoe, California
  5. Leavenworth, Washington
  6. New Paltz, New York
  7. Fayetteville, West Virginia
  8. Vancouver, British Colombia
  9. Flagstaff, Arizona
  10. Boone, North Carolina

OR Questions and answers… kinda

Outdoor Retailer

Just got back from OR.  My first time there, really cool experience.  I'll be going into more detail on some of the stuff I saw there but for right now I thought I'd just share some answers to some questions I had.

Vibram Releases New FiveFingers

VFFblack

I've had a pair Vibram Fivefinger Sprints for about a year. I wanted something that would allow me to run "barefoot" without getting annoying things embedded in my feet, like heroin needles. Here is just how awesome the FiveFingers are: I just met a guy who is a contractor in Iraq (the kind with a gun, not the kind that builds houses) who likes to where them around "at work." Apparently the insurgents, stunned by your sheer awesomeness, forget to set off the IED's.

Forget cheese with your wine

Cheese is delicious.  There's no way around that.  Not quite as delicious as Dino Nuggets, but still pretty delicious.  What goes well with cheese?  That's right, wine.  CLIF Bar on the other hand, feels that cheese isn't actually the best compliment to wine, CLIF Bars are.  Enter CLIF Bar Family Winery.  Yes, the folks that bring us delicious energy foods also create fine wines dating back to 2003 from what I found.

And heck, why stop at energy bars and wine?  Why not take something else that's completely unrelated?  Maybe olive oil for instance.  That's right, they make Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO for all you cooking show types) as well.  Incredible.  Who knows what they'll come out with next.  I know I'll be on the edge of my seat until we find out.
