Who is Gear-Addicts.com?

Gear-addicts lead by me (Clayton Doty) and a few friends that come and go. We all love to spend as much time out doors doing everything we can. Everything from biking, climbing, disk golf, camping, etc. to lots and lots of sking in the winter.

With all of this said you might wonder what makes us Gear-addicts. Well mostly this title comes from me. I have always had a very large passion for seeing new and innovative designs and ideas. Learning about the different gear that goes along with a sport and how it helps make it safer, simpler, or more fun is just a blast for me. As my wife, and others, like to say I tend to *GEEK* out on small details and new products.

Well, what can I say. What is not exciting about a small bike company, building amazing bikes, and not losing their love of riding (Transition Bikes). Or watching a major sandle company listen to feed back from a bunch of grubby river guides and bring out a line of sandals build to hold up to their needs (Chaco). And finally, watching from a consumers distance, a man with a vision start with a pair of water skis, and eventually convince almost the entire ski industry that the shape of skis can still improve and help everyone ski better (Shane McConkey).

I might be wrong but I think you only find the level of innovation and progression in a very few industries. And the major fact driving that innovation is the passion of the activity from the designers, to the sellers, to the end users. It is not so much driven by the money (even though that does play a large part). We have all seen this in the local bike or ski shops, on the ski hills and mountain bike trails, at the craigs, and at the back yard barbques that bring us all together to swap stories and plan for new ones.

Am I the best at any of the sports I enjoy, no. There is so much that I have to learn and build on. When it comes to my sports I am a jack of trades, but a master of none. I admire the masters that are out there, and like to see how they grow and change their sports and the stories of how they got there. Everyone from the Athletes that continue to raise the bar, the designers who pour long hours in to improving and designing. I even admire to PR groups that do everything they can to help a technology not get over looked.

So you might ask what is Gear-addicts.com all about. Well mostly it is a place for me and a few friends to talk about the gear that we like. Talk about new innovations, and different products that we like. You will see anything from new technology to new fashion. Some times we are lucky enough to test out new gear, and gear that is still being developed.

The best description that I have come up with is this. Gear-Addicts.com is a small online blog that focuses on outdoor gear, news, and a bit of A.D.D.
