Bigger is better

the_green_boat_thumb

Anyone looking for a downriver race boat or simply a monster kayak for those multiweek self supported trips head over to Dagger and check out The Green Boat. It's a 95 gallon beast that comes in just shy of 12 feet, so if you've been waiting for something to replace that Overflow X, the wait is over. It's a limited release production according to Dagger, so if you want one you'd better get to it.

Pink is the new Noir

crank_large

As if to give Shimano's Yumeya the giant finger, Sram has recently released color options for their top end Noir mountain bike line.  Color options include: Redwin Red, Tango Orange, Cash Green, Pinkslip Pink, and Nugget Gold.  The best part of the story...colored parts actually cost the same as the Standard version, unlike Shimano's Yumeya that raises the price even more.  Everyone that held on to their bikes with fully anodized parts is now celebrating as their bikes return to vogue.

Madsen Bikes

Madsen Cycles Cargo Bikes

I love bikes that are built to replace the car.  All bikes can take the place of a car, but to truly replace one...not many are quite so capable.  Every now and again you need to take something heavy, or bulky and you're simply out of luck with a standard bike.  Enter MADSEN Cargo Bikes.   One of the bikes has a bucket on the back.  It's like a Hummer limo with a hottub only Earth friendly.  Beautiful designs, simple colors, and darn reasonable prices.  Check them out.

I wonder how much SI pays

Little embarrassing my dad knew about this video before me. He walked in with his new copy of SI, had it opened to a pic of Bradt running the falls and told me to go find the video.

Proud of them Tax Dollars

Yep this comes to us all from a co-workers boy friend.  He is the one holding the camera.  Not bad.  I hope they finish it.

Economy have you down?

screwsCan't afford titanium ten pegs?

Tent Peg Hack
I have used regular tent pegs hundreds of times and have been extremely dissatisfied. A great, simple alternative I've been using the last five years is to wrap or tape up a handful of large screws (8-inch or so) available from any hardware shop. Wood, carriage and tapping screws are slightly heavier than tent pegs, but I've found they slide into the ground more easily, since they have sharper points. They are also cheaper and much easy to find in a pinch. Most importantly, the screws DO NOT BEND! No matter how hard you whack them.

I'm actually not entirely sure what he's saying.  Are we using one screw or multiple screwes attached together?  I think someons a liiittle desperate for content... and by someone I mean me.

Dang you Rocky I Saw it first... ok maybe I didn't... That's what I get for stealing your blog list.
