…and FoxFury said let there be light, and there was…

Performance Bike lightEvery now and then a company comes along and does something right. Generally it’s something that makes us figuratively smack our foreheads while wondering why we didn’t think of that while other times we really had no idea at all that something could be so cool. FoxFury didn’t do either of those. They are another lighting company that decided to jump into the cycling world with a headlight. They definitely have some excellent designs, many of which are designed for either handlebars or helmet, but that’s not what excited me about them.

In reading their website I saw the greatest thing ever, they rate their lights in miles per hour. Right on the main page for their bike lights, it gives you the speed rating for each light. The lights are rated for 25MPH for the Performance, 40MPH for the Pro, and 55MPH for the Pro 3. Amazing. Nobody knows (or needs to know) how many Lumens a light has or what that even means. At no point in my life have I had any need to know the candlepower of my light. Lets face it, at speeds much higher than 3MPH a candle would blow out regardless of it’s power so that’s kind of a silly rating anyway.

So the long and the short of it leads me to say, check their lights out, if nothing else it’s another option in the bike light world. They’ve got great looking lights with a quality mount at a competitive price. All I know now is that I need to figure out a way to get my bike to a speed faster than 25MPH so I can merit getting a light called the “Pro”.
